Meet Iain Hastings

Iain has a positive energy combined with a calm demeanour that could belie his incredible skill set and work ethic in life. He is happy to impart every ounce of his knowledge in the pursuit of helping anybody that works with us, while his wealth of understanding of cuisines is evident across everything foodie at TG.

Away from ensuring that the product we offer is well received by all of our guests, his ideas and strategies are building roads that TG is excited to explore now and in the future. Watch this space.

Iain works closely with Olivia at TG (see the next blog post to find out all about Olivia!).

By Iain Himself

Having started working in kitchens at the age of 9 and being raised by a baker, I’ve been involved with food for most of my life. Spending my teenage years learning about food and working in a fine dining environment, allowed me to learn the skills necessary  to pursue a successful career in food and work all over the world.

Working around the globe from Italy to Asia and on to Mexico, I’ve not only explored a wide range of produce but also become fluent in a vast array of cuisines.

I’ve now moved on from Michelin kitchens and settled in the French Alps where life is not as fast paced but is more enjoyable.

At TG I drive the catering division where i’m responsible for both the product and the team. Bringing on young chefs and giving them an environment conducive to positive growth is probably the part of the job i enjoy the most. Sharing the recipes, skills and knowledge I’ve learnt from my career allows them to not only learn to create great food but to give them the culinary foundations and skillset that will help them for the rest of their career.

We have a big focus on a healthy working environment  here at TG. Guests will always have a more positive experience if our staff are looked after and respected. We’ve been working hard to implement a TG Ski run club for the team, as well as Yoga mornings and weekly french lessons to really allow them to make the most of their season and implement a positive culture.

Aside from work, the mountains allows me to pursue other adventures in life; the main one at the moment is endurance sports. I’m now a fairly experience Ironman and triathlete having completed some of the hardest events out there such as Patagonman while working towards some sillier events and goals like trying to break the world record for the fastest marathon in a pair of high heels.
