It begins with a simple touch, my hot lemon and ginger is on a tray at my door or by my bedside; the excitement of arriving in the chalet last night is replaced by the extraordinary thought that we are here for a week. The snow is still on the railing of the balcony, I know it’s going to be a good day and importantly I think there is a hint of coffee in the air. I’m the first to breakfast; Tilly our host looks like she’s born to this as she carries fresh pastries to the table and smiles brightly before offering a flat white. The granola and compote is more for me but my children love todays hot option of pancakes.

After what seemed like an unlikely peaceful breakfast, considering there are 6 children in the chalet, the driver has popped his head in to say that he’s ready when we are. Down to the boot room to some warm boots, that were fitted for us yesterday at the chalet (with a glass of champagne in hand). As I stand up to find my skis, I find that the driver has them and the children in the vehicle already.
